I just made a bitcoin account thing on coinbase and im lost.

After a while of searching i found a long number thing which i would assume is my address because that's what it said at the top however it says i can make more. I don't get this, does that mean for every transaction i make i get a new address? or can multiple things be sent to one address?
Side note, what is the fastest way to get like 0.001 μBTC just to test how the account works.
Side note 2: what is the most reliable site to see the current rates of bitcoins in CAD? (or even USD if a CAD one doesnt exist?) because i found http://preev.com/ but i dont know if its good. Edit: just figured out i can switch to cad on preev

Kraken increasing fees.

I dont know how going forward Kraken plans to compete with QCX. Once the free deposit promo ends there's no reason I can think of to continue to use Kraken. Seriously, Kraken is not the NYSE, they need to simplify the website. If I just want to buy and sell bitcoin in CAD, 90% of the interface is irrelevant. I can't even default my homepage to the CAD exchange that I can tell.

Bitcoin in Canada

I'm trying to buy myself some bitcoins in CAD but having some trouble figuring out either how to deposit from a canadian (TD) bank account into a mtgox or other such account or else how to purchase them some other way. Coinsquares CEO Stepping Down - Willing Be Paying $1 Million Dollar Fine

Reporting live from the hearing. stay tuned
After admitting to all allegations on wash trading that inflated trading volumes (including some unusually large amounts of bitcoin), and for violating whistle-blower protections by taking a reprisal against an internal whistle-blower:
CEO Cole Diamond will be stepping down and has already paid a $1 Million Fine (CAD).
Founder Virgile Rostand is also stepping down and paid a 900,000 CAD Fine.
A $300,000 CAD Fee was also paid to the OSC for the cost of the investigation by Coinsquare.
The Former Chief Compliance Officer, Felix Mazer, also voluntarily paid $50,000 as restitution.
Coinsquare has been ordered to obtain new management and seek compliance with IIROC and other regulations.
It's important to note that the above sanctions were agreed to through a in-camera private settlement conference where the OSC and coinsquare came to a negotiated settlement.
Hearing has concluded: not much to say then the above. There were around 100 people in attendance watching the proceedings online.

Is it a good time to invest in Bitcoin?

Hey guys! I've been saving some money the past few years. Currently living with parents so there is no financial stresses.
I got around $2000 I can invest and I'm wondering if Bitcoin is worth the investment or should I go with other coins?
I'll probably buy using Coinbase, if that matters. BTW, I purchase in CAD, is that bad based on exchange rates n' what not?

Transferring large sum of cash via Bitcoin

Not sure if it belongs here, but I will give it a try.
I recently received a large sum of money from a relative that passed away in my home country. I want to transfer these funds from an account I have in that country to my account here in Canada, and I was thinking about using Bitcoin as a platform for this transaction. Are there restrictions or legal issues if I buy around 10 Bitcoin using my offshore account and then sell the coins in CAD and deposit the cash in my Canadian account? If Bitcoin isn't a good option, what else can I do to transfer the money?

Thank you!

PSA: Predatory exchange checklist

Everyone please, I would seriously advise you to stay away from exchanges that have predatory practices that take advantage of new users and first time depositors, because they have no other way to make money. An exchange that is functioning properly makes money on either their trading fees or their spread. I am writing this to all the new people that are looking for bitcoin exchange/broker options in Canada.
There are certain things you should look at and if the exchange in question has any or a combination of the following I would suggest you stay away, as the practices of these exchanges are the reason they are running on fumes and I would not like to see anyone on here get caught in another exit scam.
  1. Deposit or Withdrawal fees on fiat or crypto (unrealistic amounts). There are plenty of other exchanges with no deposit or withdrawal fees and if the exchange is successful, this is not needed at all and is a failed business model in Canada.
  2. Minimum withdrawal or deposit amounts on fiat or crypto (within reason). You should be able to deposit and withdraw as much as you'd like without restriction. This is a tactic that will most likely cause you to have to bring your balance up to a certain amount before you can withdraw. I would not consider this to be the case if the amount is $5 or less, as it does cost money to send bank wire and e-transfer.
  3. Holds on funds and bank like activity (not including fraud concerns). No exchange should have to have a hold on any funds for any reason. It is your money and they are not a bank.
Right now in Canada, there are two highly rated exchanges that have the best history with almost no complaints on reddit (or any that seem to be of valid concern). They are Shakepay and Newton, which function much the same but their own unique properties and services. I am bi-partisan on what exchange you choose because they both have solid foundation, very good history and customer reviews and highest volume, but stay away from anything but them at this point is my advice to any newcomers reading this.
Edit: Although Kraken is technically based in the US, they are a very reputable exchange and service Canadian clientele, I'm just referencing exchanges based I'm Canada right now.
Edit 2: If an exchange has deposit or withdrawal fees, they should have a good justification for it, such as VERY low trading fees or margin account, cover mining fees or anything that you can logically see that would absorb this cost.
Edit 3: (June 23, 2020) Newton has just launched their Pro version with NO TRANSFER FEES in and out and just 0.1% trade fees. I would suggest for trading spot BTC/CAD or other crypto pairs on their exchange, as Coinberry, Coinfield, NDAX, Coinsquare all charge you $25 to access your money, which is insane.

Need some guidance on where to invest.

33 Year old, making 150k. Paying around 500 for rent in Toronto (just a room).
Money Facts:
I have finally learned to not follow hypes like crypto or weed stocks just because of shitty advice. I wanna do things right from now on.
I think with what's in my debit account I cover my emergency fund.
I'm thinking I should invest the rest of the Questrade cash in VGRO or XGRO. What do you guys think?
Should I hold onto the weed stocks or sell and reinvest?
Should I hold onto the crypto or try to cash out and reinvest?
Should I leave the TD index funds there or move them to questrade?
Is wealthsimple a better option for me or should I just use questrade?
I'm starting to think about buying a condo (mom would help with about 60k) but I might not live in Toronto for the whole year so perhaps I would live 6-8 months in it and do short term rentals for the remaining of the year. What do you guys think about that?

Linking Bank Accounts

Third party FinTech services like Plaid for Newton, Flinks for Bull Bitcoin, and Etana for Kraken CAD funding that require you to link your bank account by providing them with your credentials in order to enter into a 'pre-authorized debit agreement' really makes me uncomfortable. If the day comes that they pull a "Gerry" and create lines-of-credits in our names then sail off to BVI we'll all look really dumb trying to justify why we trusted someone we didn't know with full access to our bank accounts. Am I being paranoid, or does anybody else feel this uneasiness? Possible solutions?

Don't be fooled by the Market Bot ''Mystery Guy''

The guy is literally using a dummy account that was created 3 months ago and that only ever participated in Tarkov subreddit. His first thread was a misleading thread where he's carefully manipulating you to believe that bots aren't an issue. His new thread from today is just because with the leak of the public bots, they're now in the public light and fear that BSG might do something drastic to end them. I'll post here some of the misconception he tried to implement today in his thread. :
TL:DR-The easier fix is changing how flea market works. Sure, magically getting rid of all bots will enable you to occasionally buy 10k cheaper labs keycards. But I guarantee that those 4.1 inch rail mounts will still be 20k because that's how human greed works.
TL:DR - But at least it would be bought and sold by thousands of players physically ingame instead of a dozens of botters who don't even play this game in reality.
You might laugh, but "computational thinking" is not acquired on a single day. Regular people have a hard time just creating a cat that moves left and right in Scratch
Regular people aren't the problem here though ; you pass a lot of time making that argument that it can be long and difficult to program a bot, but the fact is that the people who program bots move from game to game. They don't wake up one morning deciding to run some bots on a random game, it's a challenge for them. When a new mmo comes out, they test it, by creating cheats and selling them, creating powerleveling services, running bots on multiple games, ect. Some of them have years of practice with certain engines.
Let's do some math. 60~120mil profit a day.
I think that you vastly underestimate how you can make a profit with automatisation when you factor in the item flipping. You use the current Flea market prices in your examples while it's already over inflated due to bots. The real money comes immediatly after a wipe ; because they can then immediatly obtain a vast ammount of money in the first days and completely control the market with it's pyramidal structure. There's just no way for any player to catch up to any bot due to, you know, having to sleep and eat.
Also in your examples ; you use specific high frequence trade items, while the goal to real profit is to control as many items as you can, considering that this game contains hundreds of valuable items, which include quest items that can be sold. Again , some of them botters have 2+ years of practice (only in tarkov) by now and you mentioned how far we can get with item price records. With that alone it's very easy to know which items is profitable.
They probably easily make 30-40x that amount per day on multiple accounts to spread the wealth. You also misunderstand that there a ways in these games to ''Secure'' your gains. For example in a game like GTAV, people would buy pricey cars to store them and protect their money from being wiped ; they could then resell those car to get the money back. In Tarkov, It's already known that RMT'ers are using high priced items with fixed price like LEDX, Bitcoins and keycards to secure their gains.
100mil is valued at $66 right now.
That's actually very high considering that we're playing a BETA GAME, that late in the market which is already over-inflated and that a wipe was announced in 5 months. The real money is always after a wipe ; AND when the game will be officially released. That's the moment that these guys are practicing for, when the stakes will be real and that the economy will become permanent.
And like i said ; it's not like these guys just run some Tarkov bots and expect to live from that only. They are way more ressourcefull, they sell glitches, private cheats, money, on multiple games at the same time. That's how it becomes very, very profitable and moreover ; it's a passive income. You can have a job and run these as a sideline, while coding in your free time.
Also you're lying here since there are multiple sites, found one where it's 50$ (CAD) for 10million. price always varies from different providers and depending on the country money current going rate.
Conclusion : Unless you're just doing it for academic curiosity/entertainment, coding bots is a total waste of time.
Off course if you never programmed in your life and just expect to be able to google how to create a bot, you might have a reality check. Again you vastly underestimate the market for cheats and ''gold selling''. Or maybe you just know too much about it and want to keep your incomes.
Even without bots, any person/group with enough capital can control the flea market and exploit the economy in the current system.
But they can't do it all day long, all week long. They have to, you know, sleep and eat. One could also expect the players to play the game here and then and to not sit 24h on 24 on the market while not using any of the gear that they could afford.
Why did BSG help the bots by removing the 60 second timer? They did not help the bots; They attacked bots.
That's not what i heard personally. What i heard is that it started a new race between botters and that some of them were already way more advanced than others and were able to perform better than before.
Just like you said ; they never aim for 100% snipe, but when you reach 75% you're already swimming in serious bucks.
For me the only way to aleviate bots is to render them useless in-game directly. You limit the amount of transaction per account per hour, you add in-game buy orders and priorize them in the market.
Some market bots slightly flipping the market better than no-lifer players who actually play the market on the game client with mouse and keyboard is not their priority nor it should be.
It should be one of their top priority in a full loot mmorpg with tiered gear that can be bought and sold. When the economy gets broken, it breaks the game completely. Random people can obtain vast amount of money quickly by buying it then they can roll with the best kits for 50 lives in a row if they want. It completely breaks the gameplay and the purpose of the whole game.
It's been known that botters start public campaigns to divert the attention from them. I'd take a no lifer who actually play the game all day long over a ducking botter who don't even play and just ruin the whole game for thousands of players to gain personal wealth.

Just got a job scam with bitcoin; dont know what to do now

Hey reddit. First time posting here, and ESL speaker, so forgive me for any mistakes.
I'm a immigrant living in canada and I've been looking for a job for the past month (since I finally got my work permit), and I got an e-mail proposal for a remote customer service job. It payed really well, and I was really naive about everething since I never actually had a job.
They had a form I had to fill out via e-mail, I spoke about my experience with online transfers in a phonecall, and was set to start this monday.
Long story short, part of my "trial period" for my job was learning to operate bitcoin payments, and I got money in my bank account wich was then deposited at a bitcoin ATM. Communication with my manager was done via telegram (wich I learned, later, is because they can delete the conversation from both sides) Everything went smooth, they even went as far as to say I could use part of the deposits for a uber. I didnt do that because the bank was walking distance. They told me I completed the first part of my training and I'd be hearing from them tomorrow.
This morning, I woke up to the conversation being deleted and a few hours later my bank e-mailing me for suspicious activity. I already told the whole story to the bank and fowarded them the e-mails of my conversation with the scammers, but I'm really scared since they told me my bank account has a hold of 3k CAD and I currently have no job or means to go back to my country due to covid. I was even gonna start doing delivery apps, but I cant access my bank account right now because of it.
I'm in panic because if this goes wrong I have absolutely no way of making so much money while living here. I wont have money for rent or medications I need to take and my family cant support me for so much money. I feel so stupid and ashamed and scared. Does anybody know anything I can do?
